TANZANIA

DAY 1 | May 21, 2025 | ARUSHA
Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport where our team will be awaiting your arrival.  Drive 1 hour to the town of Arusha to check into our partner lodge to catch up on jet lag before joining the group for a welcome dinner at the lodge.


Inclusions: airport transportation, welcome dinner, hotel accommodations - proposed hotel:  Arusha Serena Hotel - 3 star hotel (or similar)


DAY 2 | May 22, 2025 | ARUSHA (Arusha National Park: Walking Safari and Canoeing Lake Momella)
In the morning, travel approximately 1.5 hours north into Arusha National Park.  After checking in at the Park office and meeting your knowledgeable Park Ranger guide, begin an approximately 2 hour easy walking safari.  Get up close and personal with buffalo, giraffes, and many other animals.  Following lunch, get into a two-person canoe and head out onto the water to explore Lake Momella.  Being on the water will provide you with an opportunity to see other animals such as impalas and waterbuck which spend time drinking near the water's edge.  Flamingos and other birds also are found here.  Following the approximately 1-2 hour canoe tour, enjoy a short game drive before returning to Arusha for the rest of your day.

DAY 3 | May 23, 2025 | ARUSHA TO TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK
Depart Arusha around 9:00 AM and take a scenic 2.5 hour drive to Tarangire National Park. At the park, pop the roof of the car and begin your first game drive!  Spot elephants, ostrich, zebras, giraffes, lions and even cheetahs. After wrapping up the game drive, head to the Tarangire Sopa Lodge, located within the National Park.  Relax with a glass of wine while you enjoy the views.

DAY 4 | May 24, 2025 | TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK
Awake to incredible views of the sun rising over the area as you sip your morning tea. Depart the lodge for an early-morning game drive then head back to the lodge for a refreshing lunch as the animals retreat to cooler shade during the hot mid-day sun.  Head out for an evening game drive and spot more of Tanzania's magnificent animals in their natural habitat.

DAY 5 | May 25, 2025 | TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK TO SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK
After a delicious breakfast, spot more wildlife as you drive the approximately 5 hours from Tarangire National Park to Serengeti National Park.  Arrive at the Serengeti Naabi Gate by early afternoon.  Eat lunch and head out for your first game drive in the Serengeti, home to the greatest animal migration in the world. After settling into your 'glamping' accommodations at the Ang’ata Serengeti Camp, enjoy a unique Bush Dinner while surrounded by the Serengeti savannah.  After dinner, be sure to enjoy the blanket of stars covering the sky.

DAY 6 | May 26, 2025 | SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK (Balloon Safari)
Get a very early start to your day today.  You will be picked up early in the morning and taken to the launch site to begin your hot air balloon safari experience.  Balloon safari will begin at 6:00 AM.  Join other travelers for a sunrise balloon launch.  The balloon safari will last about an hour, and conclude with a celebratory champagne toast and a full ‘English Breakfast’ outside and under a tree in the Serengeti.  After breakfast, return to your camp, where you will meet back up with your OneSeed Safari guide for another day of game drives in the Serengeti.  Keep your camera and binoculars at close reach as you explore all that the Serengeti has to offer!  Spot wildebeests, zebras, impalas and gazelles, as well as predators like lions, leopards, jackals and hyenas!  Return back to Serengeti Ang’ata Lodge for an authentic Tanzanian dinner.

DAY 7 | May 27, 2025 | SERENGETI NAT’L PARK TO NGORONGORO CRATER (Olduvai Gorge)
Complete a morning game drive before beginning the scenic two hour journey to the Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.  The Ngorongoro Crater was formed over 3 million years ago by an imploded volcano and is now a conservation area home to rhinos, lions and water buffalo.  Along the way to Ngorongoro, make a stop to the Olduvai Gorge and Museum, a site that holds the earliest evidence of the existence of human ancestors.  After the visit, continue on to Ngorongoro.  Arrive at the Serena Ngorongoro Lodge, perched at the top of the crater, for an early dinner and view of the sun setting over the crater.

DAY 8 | May 28, 2025 | NGORONGORO CRATER TO LAKE MANYARA (Ngorongoro Crater Tour)
Wake up early to the morning fog surrounding the crater which will quickly burn away as you watch the sunrise.  Begin the descent into the Ngorongoro crater, passing through four distinct climate zones, including a flourishing jungle full of playful monkeys swinging through the trees.  Continue your game drive through the crater, home to rhinos, lions, water buffalo and zebras.  Head toward the lake at the bottom of the crater, where you'll see hippos and an area colored pink by the flamingos wading in the water.  Following the game drive, ascend back to the top of the crater, then travel approximately 1.5 hours from Ngorongoro to your lodge located near Lake Manyara.

DAY 9 | May 29, 2025 | LAKE MANYARA (Mto wa Mbu Cultural Tours)
Today, head to the village of Mto wa Mbu where you will learn about ‘Mbege’ a local “beer” made from ripe fermented bananas and millet.  ‘Mbege’ is a traditional beverage of the local Chagga people that inhabit this area of Tanzania.  Learn how the Chagga make this beverage and even sample some.  Then head to the Mto wa Mbu market where you will see locals selling a variety of local handmade goods and art work made by the local youth. In the afternoon, head out for an approximately 3 hour easy bike tour of the nearby Lake Manyara National Park.  For those not interested in the bike ride, they can relax with some free time at the lodge.

DAY 10 | May 30, 2025 | LAKE MANYARA TO ARUSHA (Lake Manyara National Park)
Start your day with a morning game drive through Lake Manyara National Park.  Following the game drive, travel approximately 2 hours back to Arusha.  The rest of your day would be yours to explore on your own or rest at the hotel.

DAY 11 | May 31, 2025 | ARUSHA (Materuni Waterfall / Coffee Tour)
Spend the day today in the foothills of Kilimanjaro.  In the morning, drive about 1.5 hours to Materuni village.  Here you will visit a coffee farm and learn about coffee production from the local people.  You will have the opportunity to hike to a waterfall and wander through the Materuni village, passing by homesteads, and learning more about the local Chagga people.  Materuni has managed to retain its authentic edge over some of the other villages in the area.  In the afternoon, return to your hotel in Arusha.  In the evening, enjoy a farewell dinner.

DAY 12 | June 1, 2025 | ARUSHA
Enjoy one last Tanzania coffee and say goodbye to Arusha.

KILIMINJARO LEMOSHO


DAY 12 | June 1, 2025 | ARUSHA TO MTI MKUBWA CAMP
After breakfast, drive approximately 2 hours to the Londorossi Park Gate to get your trekking permits.  Begin the journey along a dense forest trail walking at a "pole pole" pace (slow slow!) to the Mti Mkubwa campsite.  Slow hiking over the next few days helps with acclimatization to the high altitude.  Enjoy a delicious meal before getting some well-deserved rest.


Peak Altitude: 9,023 ft (2750 m)

Total Hiking: approximately 3 miles (4.8 km) / 4 hours of trekking

DAY 13 | June 2, 2025 | MTI MKUBWA CAMP TO SHIRA CAMP 2
Continue through the forest and into the savannah of tall grasses, heather, and volcanic rock draped with lichen.  Ascend through the lush rolling hills and cross several streams before reaching the Shira Ridge.  Enjoy lunch on the trail before dropping slightly down to Shira 2 Camp.  Spend the night in tents next to a stream with spectacular views of the Western Breach and its glaciers in the East.


Peak Altitude: 12,598 ft (3840 m)
Total Hiking: approximately 10 miles (16 km) / 6-7 hours of trekking

DAY 14 | June 3, 2025 | SHIRA CAMP 2 TO BARRANCO CAMP
Enjoy warm tea and coffee before beginning your trek to Barranco Camp.  The trail gradually steepens, becoming a rocky semi-desert landscape.  After lunch at the Lava Tower (15,220 ft), you will descend another 2 hours to the Barranco Campsite. The descent gives hikers a huge advantage to allow your body to adjust to the high altitude.  Once at Barranco Camp, enjoy a hot dinner while taking in the beautiful sunset.


Peak Altitude: 15,220 ft (4640 m)
Total Hiking: approximately 9.5 miles (15.3 km) / 7 hours trekking

DAY 15 | June 4, 2025 | BARRANCO CAMP TO KARANGA CAMP
After a warm breakfast, depart Barranco Camp and continue on a steep ridge passing the Barranco Wall to the Karanga Valley campsite.


Peak Altitude: 13,780 ft (4200 m)
Total Hiking: approximately 3 miles (4.8 km) / 6 hours trekking

DAY 16 | June 5, 2025 | KARANGA CAMP TO BARAFU CAMP

Today we leave the Karanga Valley and pass the junction which connects with the Mweka Trail.  You have completed the South Circuit, which offers views of the summit from many different angles.  Here we make camp, rest, enjoy dinner, and prepare for the summit day.


Peak Altitude: 15,095 ft (4601 m)

Total Hiking: approximately 5 miles (8 km) / 7 hours trekking

DAY 17 | June 6, 2025 
| BARAFU CAMP TO MWEKA CAMP (Kilimanjaro Summit Day)
Prepare for a spectacular (and long) day!  Wake up between midnight to 2 am to hike up to the summit of Uhuru Peak at the top of Mt. Kilimanjaro (19,341 ft).  Be prepared for a very cold summit with plenty of layers and enough battery to snap that summit shot.  From the top, we will descend straight down to the Mweka camp site.  Later in the evening, enjoy your last dinner on the mountain with your team of porters and guides.


Peak Altitude: 19,341 ft (5895 m)
Total Hiking:
 approximately 10.5 miles (17 km) / 11-14 hours trekking

DAY 18 | June 7, 2025 | MWEKA CAMP TO ARUSHA
Soak in one last view from Mweka camp and enjoy singing and dancing with your OneSeed team.  Continue down the trail to the Mweka Park Gate where a vehicle will meet you to drive  approximately 2.5 hours back to your hotel in Arusha.  After a hot shower and rest, enjoy a delicious celebration dinner!


Peak Altitude: 10,171 ft (3100 m)
Total Hiking: approximately 4.5 miles (7.2 km) / 6 hours trekking

DAY 19 | June 8, 2025 | ARUSHA
