Ski the World With Us

President’s Message

Some things never get old….like the onset of ski season.  No matter how many times I write about getting back on the slopes, it never loses its excitement.  The fresh, silent snowfall, the scenery of the mountains, and the crisp, cold air always rejuvenate our spirits.  These components, with the thrill of skis and snowboards going down a mountain can’t help but make you feel more alive!

Therefore, whether you are skiing with the club or on your own, I just hope you are out there.   I don’t just don’t mean the skiers either.  We have more and more non-skiers joining us and finding out that winter has a special feel all its own.  For them, there are plenty of activities and sights to experience this time of year, all worthwhile.

So everyone, enjoy your trips out west to the fullest.  Yes, you will have moments of freezing your butt off but you’ll be having fun unlike anything you can do in Florida.

Think snow, snow, snow….Carla

The SCSC wrapped-up 2007 with it's annual Christmas Party at the home of Jim and Dottie Nicholas, attended by well over 100 guests.   The food was superb and bountiful, as well as the wine, beer, and yes, the ever famous margarita's served to order at the TiKi Bar out back on the river.  Although a bit windy and a slight chill in the air, everyone seemed to enjoy the cozy atmosphere with the fireplace burning and the piano playing all night long.  A special treat was provided by "All Night Yahtzee", a group of young, and very talented, Acappella singers visiting from Florida State University, with an encore' by Dottie and her daughter, Hannah singing favorite tunes from "The Phantom of the Opera".  A special "Thank You" to our members for their generosity in providing over 100 toys for the "Toys For Tots" program, all of which were delivered just in time for Christmas, along with hundreds of pounds of food, for less fortunate families here in Brevard County.
