rinkOn the northern shores of Lake Tahoe, situated at a base elevation of 6,330 feet, is what some would consider the ultimate Lake Tahoe ski resort.  With 92 trails, 3,000 acres of skiable terrain, 19 lifts including two gondolas, and 350 inches of snow annually, Northstar at Tahoe is a the perfect destination for a winter vacation.

Just 45 minutes (36 miles) from Reno airport, Northstar is a user friendly resort in the sense that it caters to all experience levels.  If you’re just beginning to discover the ridiculously amazing world of skiing or snowboarding, then the Northstar Ski & Snowboard School is for you.  Group or private lessons are available at this world-class school for everyone from beginners to intermediate level skiers or riders.  For the confident and capable, the Backside offers nine different one mile-long advanced runs and there are seven different terrain parks, including a 420-foot superpipe to channel your inner Shaun White.  Northstar is also known to have some incredible tree skiing that will challenge your quick reflexes while sheltering you from any harsh conditions.

Off the mountains, Northstar offers activities suitable for both the skier and non skier.  Check out the 200-yard tubing hill located mid-mountain just above the gondola or strap in to the Apex Bungy trampoline for some exhilarating fun.  Northstar is also home to the deluxe Cross-country, Telemark & Snowshoe Center.  Here you’ll get geared up with snowshoes, track or skate skis and be on your way to explore the 25 miles of scenic trails around Northstar.  Along the way, if you need a break or just want to stop to take it all in, do so at one of the many warming huts where you can grab yourself a cup of hot chocolate or tea.
