Snowmass, Colorado

March 6 - 13, 2010

It was a perfect week in Snowmass/Aspen, Colorado.  Club members enjoyed fresh powder, perfect weather, great accommodations, hot tubs, and great night life with dancing in Aspen!

16” of fresh powder blanketed the beautiful slopes during the week, with our last day filled with blue skies and sunshine.  We got a great workout, skiing in the powder, so we were sure to enjoy the relaxation of the hot tub each afternoon!  Between the new Elk Camp Gondola and the Big Burn, Deborah Haataja-Deratany, Natalie Carter, Theresa Huckabee, Robin Potter, and Karen Bettencourt enjoyed the fabulous powder.  Karen Bettencourt was such a terrific sport all week and posed as an adorable “snow bunny.”

Our group was so compatible that, after a day of skiing together, we dined together also!  We stocked up on groceries in Snowmass, and we took turns hosting lunch and dinner in our condos.  We dined and laughed near the crackling fireplaces each evening.  Theresa Huckabee’s taco soup won the prize for the tastiest meal.

Niki Dhruv enjoyed the powder and did an impressive job on the slopes, also.  Ethan Potter and Kiran Dhruv became great skiers while at ski school during the week.  Ethan ventured out with his mother, Robin Potter, and was able to enjoy the beautiful slopes with her.

Theresa Huckabee, Karen Bettencourt, and Deborah Haataja-Deratany ventured down to the nearby Silvertree Hotel one evening, to be entertained by Magician Doc Eason, a legend in Snowmass.

Niki and Kiran Dhruv enjoyed the awesome dog sled ride and lunch at Krabloonik’s.  After a multi-course lunch, they experienced an amazing ride through the snowy woods.  Niki said it was one of the most memorable activities she’s had and was especially thrilled to share it with her son.

Friday’s “Big Air” show right outside our condo was very exhilarating to watch, as the boarders and ski jumpers performed for the crowd.

We enjoyed spectacular views from the Aspen Mountain gondola, as it transported us to the Sundeck, where we enjoyed live music and dancing on Friday night.

We look forward to another great ski week in Snowmass soon!
