Beaver Creek, ColoradoMarch 27 - April 3, 2010How do you spell relief???? Try B E A V E R C R E E K in April !!! Take a world class resort. Add loads of record late season snow. Combine that with a high altitude mountain that preserves great spring skiing. Now you have the ingredients for a perfect ski vacation for anyone who wants it! And who wanted it???? The SPACE COAST SKI CLUB, of course !!!!! Who would have thought that the Club’s last trip of the year would have turned out to be one of the best? We took an adventurist group of 35 people comprised of families, couples and singles to stay at the number two rated lodge in the entire Vail / Beaver Creek Valley... The Charter Resort. With the rental shop located within the hotel and free shuttle service upon short request, the convenience of The Charter is unsurpassed. And the SKIING? Twenty-four hours prior to our arrival, we had the benefit of over 10 inches of new snow waiting for us. With sunny days and moderate temperatures there was plenty of great skiing only to be surpassed by another 12 inches of snow on Thursday. Some skied Vail, most skied Beaver Creek.... all had fun. So what did we do besides skiing? Well, we had three great club parties in the hotel with lots of pizza, lasagna, seafood, snacks, beer and wine. Some of our group went snowmobiling, some went snowshoeing and of course there was plenty of shopping at all of the great stores in Beaver Creek Village. On Monday we all were bussed to the 4-Eagles western ranch where we enjoyed horse drawn rides, a sumptuous barbeque and spectacular live entertainment. The personalized Mountain Tour with private guides was described as one of the highlights of the week. Top it off with a snowcat sleigh ride to Zach’s Cabin for a classy private on-mountain dinner and by the end of the week you have 35 weary skiers with plenty of memories to last for years to come. What a formula for a Great Trip! And would you believe it? Not one lost bag; no injuries (sorry Jeannie) and no complaints (none to speak of, anyway). This was a trip leader’s dream! Many thanks go out to Cuong Nguyen-Phu for all of his hard work in helping to make this such a successful adventure. Thanks also to the Stephenson family for the use of their condo for one of the parties. And thanks to the Fredericks, Windhorsts, Dwights and all the rest for making this one of the most memorable trips ever! TRIP LEADER:
